301 Redirect

Technical SEO

A permanent redirect from one URL to another. Passes almost all link equity to the new URL. Essential when you change a page's address or restructure your site.

302 Redirect

Technical SEO

A temporary redirect. Unlike a 301, it signals to Google that the original URL may come back. Misusing 302s when you mean 301s can dilute your rankings.

4

404 Error

Technical SEO

A 'page not found' error that occurs when a URL no longer exists. Too many 404 errors can waste crawl budget and harm user experience.

A

Ad Extensions

PPC / Google Ads

Additional information added to your Google Ads — sitelinks, callouts, phone numbers, locations. They increase ad visibility and click-through rates at no extra cost.

Algorithm Update

Technical SEO

Changes Google makes to its search ranking algorithm. Major updates (like Helpful Content, Core Updates) can significantly shift rankings.

Alt Text

On-Page SEO

Descriptive text added to images in HTML. Helps search engines understand image content and improves accessibility. Also helps images rank in Google Image search.

B

Backlink

Off-Page SEO

A link from another website to yours. One of the strongest ranking signals. Quality matters far more than quantity — one link from a trusted, relevant site is worth more than hundreds from low-quality directories. Learn more →

Black Hat SEO

Off-Page SEO

Manipulative SEO techniques that violate Google's guidelines — keyword stuffing, hidden text, link schemes, cloaking. Can result in penalties or complete removal from search results.

Bounce Rate

Analytics

The percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing only one page. A high bounce rate can indicate poor content relevance, slow loading, or bad user experience.

C

Canonical Tag

Technical SEO

An HTML tag that tells search engines which version of a page is the 'master' copy when duplicate or very similar content exists across multiple URLs.

Click-Through Rate (CTR)

Analytics

The percentage of people who click on your listing in search results after seeing it. Influenced by your title tag, meta description, URL, and any rich snippets.

Content Gap Analysis

On-Page SEO

The process of identifying topics and keywords your competitors rank for that you don't. Reveals opportunities to create new content that captures additional search traffic.

Conversion Rate

Crawl Budget

Technical SEO

The number of pages Google will crawl on your site within a given timeframe. Large or poorly structured sites can exhaust their crawl budget before important pages are indexed.

Crawlability

Earning links and media coverage through newsworthy content, press releases, and journalist outreach. Builds both backlinks and brand awareness simultaneously.

I
